How We Decide — Jonah Lehrer
Genre: Non-fiction, Psychology
Summary:
Enjoyed reading this book, concepts in the book I have read about before (e.g. loss aversion, farming etc) but it was nice to see them applied in different stories, the last chapter on Poker was great way to blend everything together.
Thoughts:
Poker is a game where you have to be rational but also emotional, when making a decision in anything, you should apply a weighting of some parts emotional and some parts rational, in some cases it's best be 90% emotional about a decision and in some you want to be completely rational. It's of course not easy to do that either, often you won't know why you made a decision, but you have to reflect on those decisions, introspection in that way is very useful.
